Mazhira Marie, a first-form student at The Convent High School, captivated audiences at the recent school science fair with her groundbreaking solar-powered drip irrigation system. Her project, designed to enhance agricultural efficiency, highlights a forward-thinking approach to sustainable farming.
A resident of Belfast, Mazhira shared that her love for science inspired her to develop this eco-friendly system.
The system functions by collecting rainwater from rooftop gutters and storing it in a reservoir. Sunlight then activates a pump that transfers water to an irrigation tank, ensuring efficient plant watering. After use, the water is filtered and returned to the reservoir, promoting a continuous and sustainable cycle.
Emonews wishes Mazhira well in her future endeavours.
