Dominica to also benefit from regional initiative to combat vector-borne diseases

The Caribbean Public Health Agency’s CARPHA, through its Pandemic Fund (PF) Project, has launched a regional strategy to mitigate the effect of mosquito-borne diseases like Dengue, Zika, and Chikungunya. This program recently saw the transfer of 21 fogging machines and the associated pesticide chemicals to help with vector control in seven member states, including Dominica.

The Dominica Association of Persons with Disabilities is thrilled to announce the election of our esteemed member, Judy Sango, as the President of the World Council for Churches Ecumenical Disability Advocates Network (EDAN) Youth Network during the recent workshop held in Guyana from December 16-19, 2024. This significant achievement reflects her unwavering commitment to advocating for the rights of persons with disabilities in Dominica and throughout the Caribbean. 

Sweet Success: Celebrating Excellence at the 4th OECS- Hewanorra Honey Show

The 4th OECS/Hewanorra Honey Show and the 12th Caribbean Beekeepers Congress brought together regional beekeeping experts and enthusiasts for a week-long celebration of innovation, sustainability, and biodiversity. Hosted in Saint Lucia from December 2-7, 2024, and organized by the Iyanola Apiculture Collective with key support from the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Commission, the event emphasised the pivotal role of sustainable apiculture in economic development, biodiversity conservation, and climate resilience.
