Christla Thomas Brings Holiday Cheer to the Petite Savanne Constituency

Christla Thomas, President of the Pork Festival Committee and Fête Fwadi Committee, alongside his dedicated team, brought the warmth of the season to the Petite Savanne constituency by distributing 600 food packages. This generous initiative focused on seniors over the age of 70, benefiting 200 individuals across villages such as Bagatelle, Fond St. Jean, Stowe, Pichelin, Bellevue Chopin, Petite Savanne, and Dubique.

Introducing the 2024 Republic Bank Sustainability Fund Grantees

Castries, St. Lucia, December 17th, 2024 – Republic Bank (EC) Limited (RBEC) in partnership with the Saint Lucia National Conservation Fund (SLUNCF) has awarded over EC$200,000 in grant funding to local organizations supporting critical environmental and community-based projects across the island. The grant funding was made possible through the Republic Bank Sustainability Fund, which was created in June 2023.  The 2024 awardees were formally recognized on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at a cheque handover ceremony held at Sandals Golf and Country Club in Cap Estate, Saint Lucia.

World Bank experts: NCDs account for between 1.4% – 8% of GDP loss in the Caribbean

Kingston, December 13 – Caribbean countries need to urgently address the growing challenge of non-communicable diseases (NCDs). NCDs account for over 75% of all deaths in the region, with devastating economic consequences, including productivity losses and unsustainable healthcare costs. This critical message was emphasized by health experts from the World Bank and regional health organizations during a public discussion as part of the Ask WBG Series.
