Introducing the 2024 Republic Bank Sustainability Fund Grantees

Castries, St. Lucia, December 17th, 2024 – Republic Bank (EC) Limited (RBEC) in partnership with the Saint Lucia National Conservation Fund (SLUNCF) has awarded over EC$200,000 in grant funding to local organizations supporting critical environmental and community-based projects across the island. The grant funding was made possible through the Republic Bank Sustainability Fund, which was created in June 2023.  The 2024 awardees were formally recognized on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at a cheque handover ceremony held at Sandals Golf and Country Club in Cap Estate, Saint Lucia.

Cricket West Indies (CWI) has announced a strategic reshaping of its coaching framework, appointing Daren Sammy as Head Coach across all formats. World Bank experts: NCDs account for between 1.4% – 8% of GDP loss in the Caribbean

Kingston, December 13 – Caribbean countries need to urgently address the growing challenge of non-communicable diseases (NCDs). NCDs account for over 75% of all deaths in the region, with devastating economic consequences, including productivity losses and unsustainable healthcare costs. This critical message was emphasized by health experts from the World Bank and regional health organizations during a public discussion as part of the Ask WBG Series.

CARILEC Announces Momentous MOU with Jamaica Public Service Company at the Official Opening of its Centre of Excellence

On Wednesday, 4 December 2024, the Jamaica Public Service Company Limited (JPS) officially opened its Centre of Excellence, a hub for cutting-edge specialized training and innovation in Grid Operations Management, and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems. As part of its strategic plan to build capacity and facilitate collaboration among regional utilities, CARILEC has entered a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with JPS to facilitate capacity building for utility employees across the region.
